New home kit of FC Barcelona

Squares are the new stripes! At least that’s what they say in Barcelona before the upcoming season, as together with Nike they abandon the traditional striped design of their home kit and introduce a design inspired by the Eixample district and the iconic grid-like structure of its streets.

One of the greatest clubs in the world has taken a courageous step, but the designers at Nike realize that style is always changing and it should never go stale. That’s why – for its major client – it has put together a very fresh design that reflects the creativity of this residential neighbourhood. The home kit for the upcoming season is a bold interpretation of famous club colours called Blaugranas, as usual accompanied by the swoosh, club crest, and the Catalan banner on the collar.

“This kit is a new and exciting thing,” says defender Gerard Piqué, sharing his excitement. “It may look different, but it’s still 100% Barca. Besides, it represents the bond this club has with its supporters who are pushing it forward, which is just great.”

This kit is bound to cause quite a stir, dividing the fans into two groups. That said, it’s a safe bet that Ivan Rakitič, for one, will like it.
